Vinegar Hill

Vinegar Hill is on the East River between the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Dumbo. The name was inspired by the Battle of Vinegar Hill, fought in the Irish Rebellion of 1798 but brought here as a name by Irish immigrants who settled in the area. Offering a mixture of 19th-century Federal Style and Greek Revival-style homes, the area also has a lot of industrial buildings. New apartments and increasing foot traffic are quickly turning Vinegar Hill into a destination.
