Hamilton Heights

Home to the subneighborhood Sugar Hill, which is now a historic district, Hamilton Heights is between 135th and 155th Streets, from Riverside Drive to Edgecombe Avenue. Its name comes from former resident Alexander Hamilton; the Founding Father spent his last two years in the neighborhood. It is known for tree-lined streets, brownstones, row houses, and apartment buildings and has new fame due to the play “Hamilton.” In the area you will also find several parks and institutions such as City College of New York and the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
