Sitting at the top of Brooklyn, Greenpoint is bordered on the north by Newtown Creek and Long Island City, on the west by the East River, and along the south by Williamsburg and the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. Greenpoint was originally farmland, and residential development began in the 19th century. Today residents enjoy a thriving community, amazing views of Manhattan from the waterfront, and green spaces such as McCarren Park, McGolrick Park, and WNYC Transmitter Park.
