East Village

The East Village sits below Gramercy Park and Stuyvesant Town and above the Lower East Side, with the East River as a border. Since the 1950s, the neighborhood has retained a presence of counterculture movements, art, and music. You will find vintage clothing stores, record shops, Tompkins Square Park, and an array of amazing bars and restaurants, including lots of “cheap eats.” Local institutions include NYU and Cooper Union.
